Unfortunately, about a year ago, from the head office of QSIL in Germany, it was decided to close the branch of QSIL Nederland B.V. in Winschoten. As a result, all employees of this former Philips company (where the cathode ray tubes for our TV sets were made at the time) had to look for another job. Fortunately, this has been successful for most employees.
A year after that decision, the time has come to dismantle the location. We, the combination of Rewaste Minerals, REF Minerals and Seboref Minerals, have been awarded the contract to dismantle the three existing glass furnaces. Due to the way in which we have offered the project and the demonstrable experience (eg. NEG in Westerbroek) made QSIL decide to award the work to us. The kilns have been selectively demolished by us and the released kiln bricks and insulation bricks have been carefully separated from each other. This has resulted in the fact that we have been able to recycle >90% of the materials released. The valuable stones have been transported to our location in the Czech Republic where we are building a state-of-the-art processing plant. Here the valuable kiln bricks are ground and made suitable for the manufacture of new kiln bricks.
The insulation bricks have remained in the Netherlands and are processed as construction rubble at the Recycling Maatschappij Veendam (RMV). Only a small part of contaminated rubble will be processed at the Stainkoeln landfill in Groningen.
Thank you for all the cooperation of QSIL, RMV, Nieboer Transport, Stainkoeln, REF Minerals and Seboref.
